Conspiracies, government cover ups, rebellion, and one woman, Ellie, entangled in an uprising she never wanted to be part of. As Lisa Hall’s Girl Found unravels, readers venture into a world in which a controlling Republic fights to maintain power through fear tactics, economic class division, and population control. Yet, like the fate of all controlled environments there are those that believe in freedom, and in this story that would be the role of the Syndicate families. They have positioned themselves to be free of the Republic’s control and are establishing an uprising to bring the Republic to an end, but is that their real intentions?

Upon starting this read, one might expect a tale similar to the story Divergent. Instead, Hall gives readers so much more. This novella has a familiarity that history buffs would identify as the beginning and ending of a relationship between Europe and the colonist that landed on the New World in hopes of freedom. As we all know the Americans fought to break tides with the wigs and eventually became a country under the control of its own government and people. It is this concept in Girl Found that establishes a connection for readers. Then again, Ellie’s telepathic abilities and the doses of science fiction takes this novella to another level.

If you’re looking for any kind of romance or alien invasion this isn’t the book for you. However, if you’re anything like me…looking to be entertained, immersed in a world created by the imagination of a solid author, and a story that has bouts of heeded messages that can be useful in your reality than this is the book for you. As Ellie uncovers the truth, readers learn as she does that her fate brought her into an uprising that she was destine to be a part of. I dare you to read.

I give “Girl Found” 4 out of 5 stars.

Happy Reading
