Are Beyoncé Critics Overlooking Her Contribution to
Change?
Beyonce is finally ready to take her career to new heights!
The Queen B is a calculated entertainer that people love and
hate, but in her new release, Formation, she addresses the hate on more than
one level. Addressing those who have criticized her daughter natural hair as
well as her husband’s ethnic features, and attacking the social issues
affecting people of color, while instilling words of power and strength.
Dropping the new single, the day before her 2016 Super Bowl
performance, Beyoncé’s marketing team took to the internet with the award winner’s new and conversational video that has the web on fire. But was it all
calculated? Was this song a part of a bigger scheme of change?
Some believe Beyonce is shaking things up. And after she broke the internet yet again, we can only assume she is about take over the world once again, but this time she is addressing social issues.
The picture is of a major company partaking in the changes
within America and representing this change regarding race, gender, and
sexuality while promoting the power of love is Beyonce.
One can only wonder what does the singer have in store with
her upcoming Formation Tour, especially after Page
Six leaked that Beyoncé fired her entire management team.

EROTICA vs ROMANCE
For whatever reason, the lines are seeming to blur when it comes to authors categorizing their romance reads as erotica. A part of me feels that authors place the "erotica" tag on their novels because as of right now, these books are the must read.
As women become more comfortable with their sexual desires, and the fears that were at one time associated with sexual pain and pleasure are diminishing, women's curiosity is awakening their cats. However, are authors misleading readers by tagging the word "erotica" to their books? Of course they are. It is like purchasing hair dye, and on the box it reads jet-black. But after coloring and washing the dye out you're left with a head full of red hair! It is misleading.
It is the publisher's and author's responsibility to make certain to list their novels under the right genre. Yet, with more authors self publishing I totally understand the different marketing tactics being used to help sell books. But, have you thought that just maybe you're actually hurting your sells.
Erotica is intended to arouse sexual desires. And often times, those desires go far beyond the normal vanilla. Whereas, romance is the feeling associated with love and intimacy. In romance novels there is the thrill of the chase and wooing. Whereas with erotica you'll find something else.

50 Shades of F***** Up!
Like so many of E. L. James’ fans, I’ve been impatiently
awaiting the release of 50 Shades of Grey.
Like most of you, I wasn’t sure of Jamie Dornan playing Christian Grey or Dakota
Johnson being Anastasia Steele. However, after sitting through the 2hr and 5min
drama I must say, “They brought their A-game.” Glued to the plush reclining
seat inside of Northgate Mall’s new cinema, I found myself blushing and giggling
as Christian introduced Anastasia to his intense, red room of pleasure.
Now, I know many critics have given this movie a bad review,
but in truth it stayed true to the book; the steamy sex, Ana’s need of a fairy
tale love, and Christian’s desires to pleasure as well as punish. There was
nothing left out and trust me I got my monies worth. And while some folks may have been too afraid
to watch the movie fearing what others may think of them, I sat beside my
husband taking notes.
So, was it all good? Well…, no. The ending really upset me,
but so did the first book, which is why I ran out and brought book two and
three.
The biggest problem this movie suffered from included conservative Americans pretending they don't enjoy sex on identical or
somewhat similar levels. I find it funny how we can watch movies that is
focused on teenagers killing each other, but when two consensual adults explore
sexual pleasure it is frowned upon. Like really? Get over it! Loosen up your
tie and if your spouse is game, tie him or her up and explore their bodies.
I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars.

ARE AMERICANS TOO CONSERVATIVE? 50 SHADES OF GREY
Sex, erotica, bondage, flogging, and so much more. The question that I'm asking as critics voice their opinions about the newly release of the much awaited trilogy, "Fifty Shades of Grey," would be, "Are Americans too conservative or too afraid to let it be known that behind closed doors there is so much more going on than missionary sex?" I find it very interesting that the news media have spent so much time discussing an adult movie oppose to focusing on issues that matter. Who cares what kind of sex men and women enjoy? Unless there is an underline issue that isn't being spoken about. Perhaps the issue with this "racy" movie involves how E. L. James brings to the forefront a world that conservative folks would like to keep hidden in the dark. Or maybe the issue involves women expressing their selves and no longer allowing men to dictate how they should be perceived. Or just maybe the real problem is the fear of people's sexuality. I could go on and on in a failed attempt to try and understand the critics’ real issue about this trilogy/movie, but whatever the reason may be, the truth of the matter is E.L. James' book flew off the shelves and women as well as men read all three.
Here is another question to jog your mind, if your not going to see the movie, why not?

I agree, the movie stayed true to the book. And just like the book, I love the movie! It's a 5 out of 5 for me! If you decide to go see the movie, go with an open mind. I also recommend reading Book 1 first as well, just so you can get a better understanding of the characters.
ReplyDeleteThanks T, for writing a great review for this movie! Now, I have to wait for movie 2 but thankfully I have the books to read until then. :)
Why do you really think folks are so hung up on not going to see this movie?
