Let’s cut to the chase…, “I loved this book!” I was hooked after reading the very first page and was disappointed when it was over. H.L. LeRoy’s The Fountain of the Earth had me turning the pages like a lunatic. With my eyes burning and neck tight, I refused to rest until I read every single word.

Who doesn’t enjoy a warrior’s story? Especially when the main character is an opinionated, resilient, courageous, natural born leader named Terra. In a world in which women are viewed as weaklings or simply child-bearers, Terra refuses to conform to tradition. While many of her behaviors, thoughts, and traits where viewed as unattractive by her tribe she refused to be someone she wasn’t. She had a voice and she used it.

There were so many direct and indirect messages and lessons one could learn while reading this novel. And while Terra’s test differs from present day folks, we can all relate to the struggle of self acceptance, inner self wars, and life obstacles.

Filled with revenge, death, lost, love, insecurities, battles, and the lack of respect for life this novel had it all. As an avid reader I enjoyed being taken on this journey, but more importantly I appreciated LeRoy’s style of writing (i.e. not to futuristic, different, but relatable).

I was honored to read a story about a young woman defying the odds.

There’s so much one could learn from Terra, but without giving the story away let me say this, “We all have a Terra in us!”

And the book cover…LOVED IT!

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars

Well done!

Happy reading!
