Having read the first book in Cassidy K. O’Connor’s Love Protector Series, I can say that the second book in this series, Finding His Swing, is a definite step-up. Much like the first book, the sequel involves Irish mythological folklore, including faery queens and protectors sent to help men with their relationships. This is certainly a unique story and I am looking forward to seeing what O’Connor does with the rest of the series.

Finding His Swing is narrated from three different points of view, which is much different than the single narrator from The Evolution of Sam.  The reader receives more of Kaera’s voice, who is the newest faery sent on missions to guide different men into the arms of their respective soulmates. I found that this book was much more interesting to read than the first because I was able to see the same situation through different eyes, thus compelling me to read forward. That being said, I really enjoyed the voice of Chelsea, who is the soulmate in question of the novella, and I like how O’Connor incorporated her into the narration.

There were many grammatical and technical mistakes, which made the story hard to read sometimes. However, as I said, the plot itself has a curious way of grabbing your attention and keeping it throughout the story, so you’ll never be bored when reading it.

O’Connor definitely has talent as a writer. All in all, Finding His Swing was a much better and interesting read than The Evolution of Sam, but the stories seem to improve with each novella that O’Connor comes out with!

I’ll give Finding His Swing 3.5 out of five stars!

Cheers!
