Paula Hawkins' "The Girl On The Train"

Title: What in the world?
"The Girl On The Tra" by Paula Hawkins

Good morning family, friends, and page watchers. Please tell me that you had a chance to read or even watch Paula Hawkins' "The Girl on the Train"? If you haven't, you are in for a treat. Talk about a movie filled with twist, unexpected turns, and an outcome that was so far fetched that I had to watch the movie again.
Of course, I'm not sure if the movie did the book any justice if you had a chance to read and watch the movie please tell me so. But one thing is for certain, this movie was so entertaining and sporadic that I was dizzy, in a good way, as I tried to decided if the main character, Rachel, was truly a drunken lunatic that lacked self control or something else entirely.
As the story unravels it's clear that Rachel is a bit off her rocker, and that's putting it mildly. My judgmental self doomed Rachel from the very beginning. I couldn't help but to view the woman as a mentally unstable person that needed help immediately. However, when the story started to dive into the lives of two other characters, I couldn't help but to think they were all off their meds. But truly I was so far from actually comprehending the depths of the story until I reached the very end.
Hawkins did an amazing job keeping readers on the edge of their seats as she masterfully intertwined the lives of three different characters while using one common factor. OMG! Folks, you are going to love this one. And ladies, trust and believe you will be able to relate.

Paula Hawkins you've gained a fan. I give "The Girl On The Train" 5 STARS.

Until next time folks.

Eric T. Knight's "Wreckers Gate"

Title: Among the Sand Dunes
“Wreckers Gate” by Eric T Knight

What if you were the one who started the apocalypse? How would you feel if everything you’ve ever known was about to be destroyed and you had no idea how to stop it? Wreckers Gate follows four different characters thrown into a world of chaos after Qarathian soldier Wulf Rome, who later becomes king, accidentally releases a vengeful god from his “unbreakable” prison when Rome retrieves a magical axe from its ancient cradle. Will the heroes of the novel save their world from Melekath and call back their long lost goddess? Or will they fall victim to their worst nightmare?

Author Eric T Knight masterfully combines both religion and tradition, clashing the two with magic and nature by building a world that is beautiful and unique, yet familiar and captivating. His powerful imagery of what is real and imaginary enthralls the reader, sucking them into each of the characters’ heads and letting them empathize with each of their perspectives. Wreckers Gate has a fascinating plot, unforgettable characters, and a vast world that readers can immerse themselves in. But don’t venture too far into the spirit world of Pente Akka, for you may not return.

Wreckers Gate is not a book for the squeamish or the fainthearted. It contains a copious amount of violence and detailed war imagery that may not be suitable for some young adult readers. This novel reads heavily with a male perspective, even in the female characters’ points of view which may be unappealing to some. Additionally, it contains an excess amount of exotic and unusual names that may confuse the reader.

However, if you like Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings, you will love this novel.

I give “Wreckers Gate” 4 out of 5 stars.

Cheers,

B. Smart
