Lara Adrian's "For 100 Days"

Title: UPSET!
"For 100 Days" by Lara Adrian

Reviewed by: T's Blogging

Good morning Saints, Sinners, and Page Watchers. Welp, let me cut to the chase. I am extremely upset right now. If you could see me hammering down on my keyboard, you might feel remorseful for my laptop. Okay, so what has my panties in a bunch? Well, let me start with telling you about Lara Adrian's amazing, well-written, must read, attention grabbing story titled,"For 100 Days."

Without giving too much away, the story is about this starving artist, Avery Ross, that has been given somewhat of a life altering opportunity. While house-sitting, Avery bumps into this god..., okay, well he's not a god, but check dig, he is fine. In my mind, he is breathtakingly gorgeous. Please excuse my rant, let me get back to the overview. Avery meets, the well accomplished, Dominic Baine, and though the pair come from two different worlds, there is this invisible force that pulls them together. Yet, with the lies being told, the secrets remaining in the dark, and the fear of actually allowing someone in..., well, let me just say, "There's so many odds against the pair that I don't know how the author is going to make this relationship work between these two characters."

Now that I've shared a brief overview, let me explain why I am so upset. I'm ticked off because, book II, "For 100 Nights," isn't on audio. With me working so much and tended to my growing family. I've been forced to listen to books oppose to reading them. And though I miss the feel of turning each page and reading each word, the life I live currently doesn't allow that. So umm, yeah, I am a little upset that I have to wait until I have time to read book II. Talk about a downer.

I give "For 100 Days" 5 Stars.

Lara Adrian, you have gained a new fan!

Until next time folks.

Zane's "The Sisters of APF"

Title: Call Me A Soror
"The Sisters of APF" by Zane

Reviewed by T's Blogging

Hello Saints, Sinners, and Page Watchers. It's going on a month and I'm still running through the erotica genre. This week I have some urban fiction that will have your eyes bulging and cause your chin to drop. As you know, this is only my third Zane read, and I must admit, this author has me calling my friends, as if I were on the corner selling newspapers. "EXTRA, EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT!" Yes, it was that good. This book changed my life! And that is not an exaggeration. However, before I offer my two cents let me recap what the heck this one is about.

Zane's, "The Sisters of APF," is about this country bumpkin named, Mary Ann. She leaves her family to attend college in Washington D.C. While moving into her dorm room, Mary Ann meets Patricia, who decides to the newcomer under her wing. After spending time with Mary Ann, Patricia decides to introduce her new friend to The Sisters of APF. Unknowingly to Mary Ann, she is about to bump shoulders with a group of highly educated, goal driven African American woman that embrace their sexuality, and they do so unapologetically. Without giving too much away, which I sometimes do, let me just tell you this.... "Mary Ann's country behind isn't at all who I thought she was, talk about welcome to the big city and let the sexual games begin."

I personally, really enjoyed this book for more reasons than one. As a book lover I was thoroughly entertained, but as a woman I realized that sometimes women coil their sexuality, because of the unflattering stigmatizes that brand sexual women as whores and sluts. Society places this mental bondage on women, which teaches the female gender how they should behave and react toward sex. This one book started me on a quest to not only embrace my enjoyment of the physical action, but to be vocal with what I desire and need sexually. This read also empowered me to share with other women that it is okay to embrace all of you, and that includes your sexuality.

I give Zane's "The Sisters of APF" 5 STARS,

Happy reading!

Noir's "G-Spot"

Title: Juicy
“G-Spot” by Noire

Reviewed by T’s Blogging

Good morning family, friends, and page watchers. It took me only one day to finish this book. Talk about AMAZING! Okay, so most readers will automatically draw a few similarities between The Coldest Winter Ever and G-Spot. However, in truth, the only similarities between the two novels would be the heart and soul both urban authors had while writing their books. G-Spot has this urban flare, with an erotic and sexual tension that is entangled with a storyline that will have you screaming, blushing, and praying as you become so involved.
Noire’s invites readers into Juicy’s life, which is filled with hardship, grief, death, loneness, drama, and the need to survive. No surprise Juicy ended up with G, Harlem’s heartless, big timing drug dealer.
Without giving too much of the story away, I must tell you this, “Do not be like me and assume that this book is only about the sweet spot most woman crave to have touched.” Noire offers more than the obvious. This story was masterfully told and there is nothing I would change—well, except what happened to Juicy in toward the end. It was difficult getting through those last few chapters, but it was indeed sweet after reading the last page.
Thank you Noire for giving us more than just the same ole’ predictable erotic read.

I give "G-Spot" 5 STARS!

Until next time,

Paula Hawkins' "The Girl On The Train"

Title: What in the world?
"The Girl On The Tra" by Paula Hawkins

Good morning family, friends, and page watchers. Please tell me that you had a chance to read or even watch Paula Hawkins' "The Girl on the Train"? If you haven't, you are in for a treat. Talk about a movie filled with twist, unexpected turns, and an outcome that was so far fetched that I had to watch the movie again.
Of course, I'm not sure if the movie did the book any justice if you had a chance to read and watch the movie please tell me so. But one thing is for certain, this movie was so entertaining and sporadic that I was dizzy, in a good way, as I tried to decided if the main character, Rachel, was truly a drunken lunatic that lacked self control or something else entirely.
As the story unravels it's clear that Rachel is a bit off her rocker, and that's putting it mildly. My judgmental self doomed Rachel from the very beginning. I couldn't help but to view the woman as a mentally unstable person that needed help immediately. However, when the story started to dive into the lives of two other characters, I couldn't help but to think they were all off their meds. But truly I was so far from actually comprehending the depths of the story until I reached the very end.
Hawkins did an amazing job keeping readers on the edge of their seats as she masterfully intertwined the lives of three different characters while using one common factor. OMG! Folks, you are going to love this one. And ladies, trust and believe you will be able to relate.

Paula Hawkins you've gained a fan. I give "The Girl On The Train" 5 STARS.

Until next time folks.

Good morning family, friends, and page watchers. I have a new series you must get your hands onto. Of course, there's one major flaw, which I must disclose to you before I give this novel countless accolades. I was distraught when I flipped to the last page or listened to the last track on the CD, only to find that there's a book two but was unable to find the audio version. Talk about being bummed! When you're sitting behind a desk for hours keying information, and the one thing I have to look forward to is getting lost in a world unlike none other. Let's just say the rest of my day didn't go as planned.
Jennifer Malone Wright's, "Keeper vs. Reaper" offers readers a new world. So what's the story about? Well..., there's this family that's responsible for protecting the souls of those roaming inside the graveyard. And the reapers--I'm sure you can imagine who and what they are. The main character, Lucy, discovers something about herself that changes her life, but what does that mean? Unfortunately, you will have to read the book to find out. However, what I can tell you is this, Wright has brought something worth reading and she has gained a new fan, me.
Coming from a large family with overprotective siblings, Lucy finds herself attempting to prove that she is ready for the responsibility of keeping the graveyard souls safe. Yet, when all hell breaks loose and Lucy becomes involved with the enemy, things get dicey.

An engrossing, compelling read that deserves more than five stars. Written with a new flare offering something fresh to the world of books that readers desire and crave.

I give "Keeper vs. Reaper" 5 Stars and can't wait to sink my mind into book two.

Happy reading folks.

Alexa Sinclaire's "Trusting Stone"

Captivating and Compelling

Tragedy, redemption, and danger masked as a good friend are just a few of the many enticing features that await readers in Alexa Sinclaire’s Trusting Stone. Eden Walker has been through every college girl’s worst nightmare and yet has managed to claw her way back to a reasonably normal life. She has a dependable best friend, a man who wants to marry her, and a trust fund that allows her to do a job she loves regardless of pay. Though many would be envious and most would call her case a success story, Eden can’t quite quell the feeling that something in her life is missing.

Cue a chance run-in with Sebastian Stone, the commanding, self-made businessman Eden hasn’t seen or heard from since childhood. Just one short encounter with Sebastian is enough to show Eden what her life has been lacking: passion. However, not everyone in Eden’s life are as they seem, and although Eden believes she has moved on from her past, her past hasn’t quite finished with her just yet.

A fast-paced story driven by the intense relationship between Eden and Sebastian, Trusting Stone delivers a steamy romance with a serving of suspense that will leave the reader wanting more. As they navigate the twists and turns of their relationship, the couple must learn both to trust one another as well as discern who their true enemies are, and readers will find themselves compelled to join them on their journey. The author does a remarkable job of creating characters with whom the audience can easily identify, and although Eden and Sebastian live lives of luxury, they are still relatable and likeable characters. The solid development of characters coupled with a strong and captivating plot makes it easy to get lost in the pages of Trusting Stone as unanswered questions from both Eden’s and Sebastian’s pasts come to light once again.

I give “Trusting Stone” 5 out of 5 stars.

Meet Phoebe Rose: a tenacious teenager with a passion for hockey and a desperate need to prove herself in the world. Found walking alone on the street when she is only four years old with no recollection of her family, Phoebe is bounced around from foster home to foster home until she finally escapes the system at age 18. She leaves determined to play hockey for her favorite college team in order to break free of her traumatic past. Although she has a hard time trusting people, she eventually opens up to her fellow teammates who are able to show her the true meaning of family. Becoming Phoebe is a coming-of-age story about loyalty and betrayal, abuse and support, friendship, and redemption.

Author J. Michael Neal does a phenomenal job of creating original, emotionally complex characters whose experiences tug at the reader’s heartstrings. His first person narrative is extremely well-developed, and the protagonist’s strong personality and unwavering perseverance is inspiring to read. Filled with thoughtfully constructed flashbacks interspersed with unique, realistic experiences, this novel is rich in depth and raw human emotion.

Becoming Phoebe is a poignant, compelling read intended for mature audiences, and readers may find some elements of this novel disturbing. However, the more alarming scenes are written in a way that is more reflective than graphic. The narrator does not dwell on her circumstances, but rather she views them as an outsider looking in, and her friends help her understand her past while she grows from it. This is a story about the triumph over impossible odds and how the events of one’s life do not define them.

Those who enjoyed Laurie Halse Anderson’s Speak or Stephen Chbosky’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower will love this book.

I give “Becoming Phoebe” 5 out of 5 stars and deem it a Publisher's Read.

Cheers,

Claire is the key, but how in the hell will this teenager rid the world of the blood sucking killers known as the Hellions?

Author Amy Braun invites young adult readers into a world that has been invaded by monsters, leaving the humans to become prey and fuel. No longer listed as being at the top of the food chain, humans take to the underground tunnels in hopes of simply surviving. With the predators waiting above ground, Claire, Braun’s main character, finds herself seeking refuge under the thumb of a lunatic, Garnet. He is the epitome of an egotistic, selfish, emotionless prick that will cause reader’s lips to curl.

Like so many, Claire decides it is better to deal with the human monster rather than attempt to relocate and faceoff with the Hellions. The only issue…the way fate is setup, eventually she will have to deal with them both.

Readers will enjoy the ease of the story as it plays out on paper as well as in their minds. Braun knows exactly how much enough is, and answers some questions while leaving countless others floating in the air. One thing is for certain this author keeps reader’s hearts thumping with explosive scenes and heart wrenching endings. Everyone has secrets, and as the truth shines its light on the darkness, readers will be surprised by the unexpected. But this is what really makes Braun the next must read author, she is not afraid to kill off anyone. No one is safe, not even Braun’s main characters, or are they?

Crimson Sky is fantastic, and offers such an amazing start to what appears to be a great series. Cannot wait for book 2.

I give “Crimson Sky” 5 out of 5 stars.

Happy Reading
